The Perfect Post Holiday Weekend "Detox"

Long holiday weekends generally result in family BBQ's, long nights, and LOTS of food and drinks. If you wake up the next day feeling overstuffed, bloated, and nauseated, don't worry. We are sharing a basic "day after detox" template that you can follow that may help you get back on track!

Oatmeal

The morning after overindulging, give your stomach a break. Wait until you're hungry and then start with a fiber-rich breakfast such as oatmeal to get your digestive system in gear. Choose flavors that will stimulate your taste buds without causing sensory overload. Adding diced fruit will add a boost of antioxidants and the high water content will help with rehydration.

Greek Yogurt Parfait

If you happen to overindulge in alcohol over the weekend,  foods that are high in natural fructose (like the honey in this recipe) will help your body burn any lingering alcohol in your system. Plus it adds a sweet flavor to the Greek-style yogurt and tangy fruit! A sprinkle of chopped nuts adds energy-boosting protein and vitamin B6, which also may ease hangover symptoms as well!

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Combine yogurt and vanilla in a bowl. Spoon 1/3 cup yogurt mixture into each of 4 small parfait glasses; top each with 1/2 teaspoon honey, clementine sections, and 1/2 tablespoon nuts.

Top parfaits with the remaining yogurt mixture (about 1/3 cup each); top each with 1/2 teaspoon honey, 2 clementine segments, and 1/2 tablespoon nuts. Serve immediately.

Simply slicing up your favorite fruit, putting it in the oven or the microwave for a bit, and top it with some spices and dollop of greek yogurt! It creates a DELICIOUS, low-fat, low-cholesterol dessert!
