Creating Fresh & Affordable Spaces for Every Room In Your Home

Believe it or not, Spring is just around the corner! I know for myself it's the time of year when I am ready for a fresh new look in my living spaces. Whether it's the entryway, bathroom or living room, there are ways to create a new look without having to do a complete makeover! It has always been important to me to create spaces in my home that are welcoming, warm and comfortable for myself, family, and friends. It was also pretty important to accomplish this by not having to take out a small bank loan!

Apart from the hassle and expense of redoing an entire room, it’s just not feasible to change out all of your decor every season. Over the years I found creative ways to give a new look to a space by simply changing out a few accessories. Small details can really make or break a room's ambience, using pieces you already own and love, it's easy to mix in new items to bring that fresh look we all need at this time of year!

Whether you have a large entryway area, or like me, just a bench, it’s nice to create a welcoming feel for yourself and your guests when you first walk into your home. I like to keep things simple with a throw pillow and a small basket for my keys and sunglasses. Box signs always work well to send sweet messages to guests.

It’s amazing what a few small pieces bundled together can do for a fresh look.

Who would have thought your soap dispenser could have such an impact on your bathroom's vibe! Candles always make wonderful additions to any room because not only are they appealing to the eye, but the added luxury of scent is so important when creating your personal ambience. When creating a fresh look in my bathroom I like to spend a little more on a nicer hand soap. Coupled with a candle, a fresh new hand towel hanging, it can really freshen up your look.  A pretty scented wrapped soap in a dish that matches your color scheme can add that scent element and also looks pretty. You can even get creative and put together a “spa tray” on your counter using colors from your pallet. Don’t forget your bathroom as it is one of the most visited rooms in your home by family and friends!

I love making my living room a cozy haven!  Pick an end table or a coffee table and add a candle, photo frame, floral focal point. I love to journal, so I always have that close at hand too.

Placed casually over a chair or your couch, of course the ever faithful throw works wonders. Small “rugs”  also work well over the back of a chair! I love to add a touch of floral/greenery to my small spaces. It was not until recently that I started experimenting with faux flowers. Faux greenery and floral have become much more popular and the quality and selection have improved so much too. It can really add that pop of nature and color we all need in Spring!

Even your kitchen can benefit from a few finishing touches to brighten up the look. As in my bathroom, I like to pick out a colorful hand soap. A new tea towel hanging or used to create a display with a green plant on the counter along with a candle. Maybe you enjoy drinking tea and like to have your tea accessible in a cute little basket. A small tray with a couple of cute coffee mugs, a box sign, plant or candle. Think about what brings you joy and run with it!

The idea is to get creative with your space and budget! You don’t have to spend a fortune when picking out some smaller accessories to add into your decor, you can create appealing focal points in any room of your home. Think about what brings you joy. Is it a favorite color? Is it having pictures of your family and friends scattered around your home? What ambience are you trying to create? A cozy reading spot? A place to gather with loved ones and friends? Try and think about pieces you own and enhance the look of what you already have in your home. Neutral colors are a great way to go when choosing anchor pieces, making it easy to add in pops of color using floral, candles and other inexpensive items as the seasons come and go.

The most important thing is to have fun with your ideas and Live What You Love!
