HYDRATE. HYDRATE. HYDRATE.
This weekend is the first of many that the temperatures will reach the 90's this summer. It is no surprise that people get more active during the summer months. When doing activities out in this heat, it is extremely important to make sure that you are hydrating properly with water and electrolytes!
Skip The Sangria!
Summer is the perfect time for sangria, mojitos, margaritas, and so many other great cocktails! But, if you want to sleep through the night, it may be best to skip the alcohol entirely. Since it is so hot, you're already more likely to be dehydrated, alcohol will only make it worse!
Replenish Your Electrolytes
In addition to hydrating with water, electrolytes must also be replenished to reduce the risk of dangerous imbalances. Sodium, calcium, and potassium are the main electrolytes lost through sweat and can be obtained from sports drinks, as well as whole foods such as bananas, raisins, potatoes, spinach, and milk.
Enjoy The Sunlight!
It does not have to be all day; even thirty minutes in the sun can help improve your mood significantly! Try lying in the grass and watching the clouds roll by. Sunlight is also a huge source of Vitamin D, which is crucial for strengthening bones and regulating nearly every system in our bodies!
