Four Core Friday!
Welcome to Four Core Friday! Every Friday, we send out a short e-mail that will cover the four things that you can start incorporating in your life TODAY to help you start living a healthier lifestyle!
We give tips on each of our FOUR CORE HEALTH PRINCIPLES: Movement, Sleep, Nutrition, and Relaxation. Be sure to tune in every Friday for simple, yet effective tips that will help you start to take control of your health and wellness!
Take The Road Less Traveled
When you think of sidewalks, roads, paved paths and grassy trails, they are generally hard, flat and level. One of our favorite ways to increase the quantity of whole body movement is to find surfaces that add some obstacles into the mix. Walk on roots, higher grass, rocks, mulch, dirt, or snow! Pretty much anything that asks the body to work just a little bit harder. You also may eventually develop more overall stability from head to toe and your brain function may improve by doing something that is more challenging!
Create A Restful Environment
Create a room that's ideal for sleeping. Often, this means cool, dark and quiet. Exposure to light can make it more challenging to fall asleep. Try to avoid prolonged use of light-emitting screens before bedtime. Maybe consider using darkening shades, earplugs, a fan or other noise devices to create an environment that suits your needs and can help make you as comfortable as possible!
Doing calming activities before bedtime, such as taking a bath or using relaxation techniques like meditation, may promote better sleep as well!
Prep Your Meals
Meal planning and prepping are amazing skills to have in your personal health and wellness tool kit. A thought-out meal plan can help you improve your diet and help you reach those health goals while saving you time, stress and money along the way!
The best way to integrate a meal planning routine into your lifestyle is to make it a priority. It can help to regularly carve out a block of time that is solely dedicated to planning! Then the process of shopping and prepping is that much easier!
Mindfulness Meditation
This involves finding comfortable seating, focusing on your breathing, and bringing your mind's attention to the present moment without allowing you to drift into concerns about the past or the future. This form of meditation has increased in popularity in the recent years and may be helpful for people with increased anxiety, depression, and pain!
